The Keble College website (see References) states: 'Commenced service (following acceptance into College but prior to matriculation) on the 22 September 1914. Lieutenant of the 10th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. Served in France. Killed in action in France on 12 April 1917.' [CWGC gives his burial details but lists him as serving in the 9th Battalion.]
