'Private John Harries Davies born abt. 1894 in Carmarthenshire, Wales lived at Newark Farm, Hempsted, Gloucester. John age 17 a "Waggoner working on Farm". John joined the Royal Fusiliers 20th Battalion Service no. 8887. He died on 20 July 1916 in the battle of the Somme (age 21) CWGC - "Remembered with Honour at Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France"'
