Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Originally from Edinburgh, he was married with a son and was living in Manchester where he was the Head of a Department at a firm of clothiers. He enlisted in November 1916 but he contracted pneumonia whilst in training at Bidston, dying in New Brighton Auxiliary Military Hospital. This was the only Calderdale memorial they found him commemorated on.
