Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked for a wholesale clothier, was hospitalised with severe trench feet and died of dysentery in the Grand Duchess of Russia's Hospital. He was not found commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial that they researched and is buried in this churchyard.
