Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked as a despatch clerk at a dyeworks before he enlisted in September 1914. Crossing to France in July 1915, he was killed later that year by a sniper whilst he was on a trench digging party. He is also commemorated on IWM 2830, 2831 and 2832.
