Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He had worked as a motor man for his uncle and then as a steward on the White Star liner Cerdic before the war. He returned from New Orleans to enlist, first training horses in Bristol and then serving in the Dardanelles. He died in France and, although not married, a tribute of love was sent by a Miss Clarissa Lister. He is also commemorated on IWM 2761.
