Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was the adopted son of parents who had moved to Orange County, New York in the USA and he worked as a weaver. He was wounded and posted as missing, one of the many to be lost from his regiment and Calderdale, in the unsuccessful attack on the Schwaben Redoubt on 3/9/16. He is also commemorated on IWM 2602, 2754, 2763 and 2699.
