Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. The brother of Ernest, also commemorated here, he worked as a motorman before he enlisted in October 1917. Thie death notices arrived home in the same post as each other and, like his brother, James is also commemorated on IWM 2738 and 2747 and the Arras Memorial.
