Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra detail. He went to Rastrick Grammar School, leaving in 1912, and then worked for a wool merchant in Huddersfield before enlisting in August 1914. He was killed by a sniper whilst on sentry duty and is also commemorated on IWM 2738 and 2603 as well as the Menin Gate.
