A member of Lodge of Probity No.61. Hornshaw and Fowler record he was married anmd worked as the Chief Assistant Solicitor at the Town Clerk's Office. He enlisted in June 1916, was commissioned in October 1917 and was hit during a failed attack. His Batman initially reported him killed but he was, in fact, captured, only to die as a POW in a German Casualty Clearing Station.
