The following information was supplied by the school in 2024: 'Noted as enlisting in 1914 for foreign service as from Lyonshall. B 1896 at Yarkhill, Father (Ralph Holt Bromley) elementary school teacher. Mother Esther is also elementary school teacher. 1911, living at School House Lyonshall. Served at Gallipoli, 1915 Star. Fit for foreign service Oct 1914. D company 1st battalion. Private. Noted by LHS December 1914 to have been injured and reported in September 1915 that he is slowly recovering in hospital in London.' It also notes that at some stage he transferred to the Hampshire Regiment.
