The memorial appears to suggest he was killed but CWGC has no record of him and the local war memorials project (see References) states he survived in his biography. They also suggest his rank was Second Lieutenant and that he served in Tank Corps having enlisted into the Yorkshire Regiment and then serving in the MGC.
