He was twice Mentioned in Disptaches. In November 1914, he was mortally wounded leading a body of 40 unattached men in a successful charge against the enemy at Wilverghen, and posthumously awarded
the Distinguished Conduct Medal. Cemetery: Bailleul (B.18).
