All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He was at Waterloo Junior School, before attending Blackpool Grammar School from 1933 to 1938, when he left to train as an accountant. He was the son of Percy and Elizabeth Stansfield of Kirkham, living in Lyndhurst Avenue. He was a Sergeant (No 1057672) with RCAF Squadron 408, and was killed on Friday 28th August 1942, aged 20, flying in the dangerous Hampden bomber, just prior to its withdrawal to be replaced by the slightly more reliable Halifax.
