All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He was the son of William Meikle of Crystal Road, and was at Thames Primary School before coming to the Grammar School from 1931 until 1934, when he left to work at the Gazette and Herald newspaper. He became a Sergeant (No 908192) in 137 Field Regiment of the Royal Artillery, and died on Friday 13th February 1942 aged 22, less than three weeks after his school contemporary Leslie Hallworth in the same conflict area. His name is listed on the Singapore Memorial.'
