Notes
All additional information and this short biography are supplied thanks to the research of the Blackpool Grammar School Old Boys: 'He came from Liverpool, and was at the school from 1936 until 1938. He was the son of John Thomas and Elsie Griffith of Newton Drive, and after leaving school he worked for Terry’s confectionary in York, and married Moira Mary Griffith. He was a Captain (No 232539) in the Royal Armoured Corps and died on Saturday 24th March 1945, aged 24, just six weeks before the war’s end. His grave is at the Coriano Ridge War Cemetery, Italy.' The memorial appears to wrongly credit him with a DFC.
