The College website (see References) carries this brief biography: 'College Notes: Came up in 1933 to study Modern and Medieval Languages but did not graduate. Military Service: Major 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment, Army Aviation Corps. Killed 18 September 1944 during the Battle of Arnhem, whilst holding the northern approach to Arnhem Bridge.'
