The College website (see References) carries this brief biography: 'College Notes: Came up in 1932 to study English and Modern and Medieval Languages. BA 1935. Military Service: Lieutenant 1st (Perak) Battalion Federated Malay States Volunteer Force. Died 16 June 1943 whist working on the Burma Railway, having been taken prisoner by the Japanese in Singapore. Reburied from Kannyu No. 1 Cemetery near Hellfire Pass.'
