According to the Warrington Museum and Art Gallery (see references): Born in Warrington 4th Quarter 1884 to John and Elizabeth Ellen Catterall. 1911 census 10 Dannett St, occupation Brewers Labourer.
1918 14 Wakefield St, occupation Worked Crosfields. Played in Walkers Brewery Band. Wife Martha nee Adams married 24th September 1914 in Warrington. Educated at St Ann’s School. Regiment 2nd Bn. South Lancashire Regiment Private No.28595. Killed in Action 22nd March 1918 France & Flanders
