Met Office add: Born 12 January 1897, Died 10 October 1916 near Gueudecourt, France age 19. No known grave, remembered on Thiepval Memorial. George joined the Meteorological Office at the age of 17 and worked in the Statistical Division until he was called up in April 1916.
