Hornshaw and Fowler and CWGC provide the extra details. He was married, with 3 children and worked at a waterworks: he was a keen cyclist and budgie breeder in his spare time. He enlisted in 1940 and was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial. He is listed on the Athens memorial.
