The CWGC website describes John William Sherriff as ‘Able Seaman’, addition to gravestone refers to him as ‘Chief Gunner’, and the main war memorial in the cemetery describes him as ‘Gunner’. Also, CWGC website gives age at death as 27, gravestone says 20. I’m confident CWGC website and gravestone are referring to the same John William Sherriff, parents’ names are the same, date of death is the same, and website refers to JWS being commemorated on a memorial at Sutterton Cemetery.
