He was the village doctor who served in the Royal Navy at both the Battle of the Falkland Islands and Jutland (where HMS Tipperary was sunk but he survived), survived the war but died in 1920. He is buried in this churchyard but the village added his name to the memorial in 2018 as he is technically a war casualty (see Cornwall Live in references).
