Notes
This name clearly appears as a casualty but Hornshaw and Fowler did not list him - they provided details for 14 names but stated there were (and there are) 15 dead. Malcolm Bull states that he is Leonard Marshall, a married man, living in Ovenden in Halifax, who enlisted in September 1914 and served in the West Riding Regiment, dying from trench mortar fire near the River Lys and buried in St Vaast British Military Cemetery. These details are used here.
