Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was not married and worked for the shoe shop Freeman, Hardy and Willis before enlisting in 1940. He had served in India and the Middle East before he was killed in Italy. He is not named on the lamp but is on the Roll: his death was reported in the local press on 23rd September 1944: CWGC gives exact date and his burial details.
