Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Unmarried, he attended both Rishworth and Heath Schools (Halifax - where he is also commemorated) and played rugby for the Old Rishworthians XV, as well as swimming for Halifax. He was commissioned in 1940 and served in India, Burma (surviving Typhoid) , Palestine (where he won his 'Para' wings) and Italy before being killed serving with the 6th Airborne in Belgium. He is also commemorated on IWM 29393 at Heath. Not an apparent relation to John Wade who is also commemorated in this memorial.
