Notes
The Roll lists his address as Park Road Baptist Church (on whose war memorial he is listed). It states he served as Driver 3307 in the RFA, but lists no details of where/when he died. [The Medal Rolls record that Driver Edward Stanley Thompson of the RFA began the War with the regimental number 3307, but it later changed to 901594; as he actually survived the War, the inclusion of his name on the RoH was an error. [The man alluded to on the Roll was probably the Edward Stanley Thompson born 1896 in Peterborough, son of Martha and George; he was living with his widowed mother in Craig Street in 1911; he died in 1939].

(N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived).
