Notes
The Roll lists his address as London Road. It records him as a Private in the Tank Corps (implying British Army), that he was killed in action in 1918, and that he died in the Battle of Amiens in 1918 (date unstated); he was actually John Thomas Sykes, formerly of Peterborough, who died on 8/8/1918 as Private 775567 in the 87th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment), and is buried in Le Quesnel Communal Cemetery Extension. https://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/remembrance/memorials/canadian-virtual-war-memorial/detail/306056 and https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/306056/j-t-sykes/ relate.
(N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived).
