Notes
The Roll lists his address as 16 Eastgate. It misrecords his surname as Rippon, his date of death as 2/1/1918, and the clumsy wording re the cause of death wrongly implies he died in Germany while a PoW; in fact, his surname is known to have been Rippin, he died on 2/1/1919, and he is buried in Broadway Cemetery in Peterborough, having died after he was repatriated to England.

(N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived).
