Notes
The Roll mistakenly listed this man twice: once under this correct spelling of his surname (Morton), and again under the wrong surname Norton; both entries list his regimental number as 7474, his address as 156 Westwood Street, and that he was killed in action on 25/10/1914 as a Private in the West Kent Regiment. Even though the double entry on the Roll was quite clearly a mistake, as it nonetheless has two separate entries for him (on different pages), we similarly need a Names record for each entry.

(N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived).
