The Roll mistakenly listed this man twice (once at the bottom of its page 10, and again at the top of page 11). Both record him as a Sergeant in the 1st Northants who died in July, but each entry records a different address and date of death. The other entry, on page 10, lists him under his father's address of 151 Star Road, correctly recording his regimental number as 7588, but wrongly listing that he died on 19th July 1917; this entry (on page 11) records his address as 654 Lincoln Road, omits his regimental number, and states that he died on 7th July 1916. (CWGC records his date of death as the 8th July 1916). As the Roll's two entries for him record differing information, a separate Names record has been set up for each of them.
[N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived].
