Notes
This entry on the Roll for 'Joseph Beecroft Brown' does not list any address for him, and records merely that he was a Lance Corporal in the Royal West Kents who died of pneumonia on 26th November 1918. The same man is also listed on the Roll under his true name 'Joseph Beecroft Exton', whose entry correctly records that he died on 8/11/1918, but wrongly records that he served in the 1st Battalion Northants Regiment. Neither of the Roll's two entries for this man records is therefore entirely accurate.
His birth was registered as 'Joseph Beecroft Exton' in Grantham in 1883. CWGC records that Lance Corporal Joseph Exton (16557) of the 6th Battalion Royal West Kents died on 8/11/1918, and is buried in Tourgeville Military Cemetery in France.

(N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived).
