Notes
The man was mistakenly listed on the Roll twice, once under the surname Blowers (which was the surname of his step-fater, i.e. his mother's second husband), and again under his true surname Dowland (as which he enlisted and served). This entry for him as Blowers lists his address as Thistemoor Road. As the Roll includes two entries for him, we accordingly have two Names records for him.
(N.B. The Roll is known to include numerous errors, including: misspelt names and inaccurate date/place of death, service number/ rank/ military unit etc; several casualties were mistakenly listed on it twice [i.e. under their true name and also the alias under which they served]; several other men were listed on it due to the mistaken belief they had died, whereas they had actually survived).
