Hornshaw and Fowler are the source of forename, service and death details. A local rugby player and swimmer, he was commissioned in 1940 and first served with a Field Survey Compan y in India and Burma where he survived Typhoid. Re-training as a Para in Palestine, he served in Italy with 591 Para only to be killed serving with the 6th Airborne.
