His biography on the college website states: ‘Frederick Charles Squires was born in St Aldate’s, Oxford, the third of the five sons of William Little, a gardener, and his wife Mary (nee Squires). By 1911 he was working as a college servant at Christ Church. Initially he enlisted with the Queen’s Own Oxford Hussars, but later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps. He is names on the Pozieres Memorial Panel 93 and 94 and his name is listed at the end of the Christ Church Memorial devoted to former choristers, college servants or with some other close connection with Christ Church.
