Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked at the same brickworks as the Milton brothers who are both also commemorated here before he enlisted in January 1916. He went missing at Horseshoe Trench, his death not being confirmed until February 1917. He was not found to be commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial, but he is named on the Thiepval Memorial.
