Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Like his brother, Frank, who is also commemorated here, he worked as an overlooker for a firm in Hipperholme before he enlisted in September 1914. He survived being wounded before he was killed. Neither brother is known to be commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial.
