Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He had moved to Kingston-upon-Thamas in Surrey having been born in Halifax - where his sister still lived - and worked in Hipperholme at a barber shop. He enlisted in May 1916, by which time he was self-employed, and is also commemorated on IWM 2689.
