Hornshaw and Fowler are the source of his service details and clarify that he was killed at Ypres and he is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial as well as inside this chapel (IWM 29433). He was married to Martha and lived in Shelf, the next village beyond Northowram, where he is also commemorated (on IWM 2735).
