An old Dunstonian. Was a Doctor at the outbreak of war and joined the RAMC but preferred fighting for his country, giving up his commission and passing through the ranks of the Royal Sussex Regiment to Sergeant-Major. He then took a commission in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.
