Educated at Crossley and Porter School, he played rugby for Halifax and worked for the family firm before training as a pilot in Canada: he was commissioned on 24th May 1944 and killed only weeks later serving on HMS Kestrel. He is also commemorated on IWM 2689, 2587 and 29387.
