Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was the son of an alderman in Halifax who had emigrated to Rustenberg in the Transvaal in 1897. He was forced to leave there when war was declared and served with Kitchener's Bd (Horse?) and was certainly present at the siege of Mafeking. He died of enteric fever and is also commemorated on IWM 2599.
