Notes
The Roll of Honour has an appendix that is headed "Men thought to be from Peterborough who were killed in action, but about whom little can be discovered regarding addresses, regiments, dates of death etc". Among the entries on that page is "A. W. Bunker", who it lists as having been a Saddler in E.A.R.E, but includes no address or any further data.

(CWGC records that "Sapper" A.W. Bunker, regimental number 1779, was serving in the 2nd/1st East Anglia Field Company of the Royal Engineers when he died aged 20 on 22/8/1915, and is buried in grave II.G.14 at Hill 10 Cemetery in Turkey. They record him as the son of Albert & Ella Bunker of 4 Bridge Street, Luton.
Soldiers Died in the Great War records that Sapper Albert W. Bunker, regimental number 1779, enlisted at Luton; he was killed in action at Gallipoli. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects records that Sapper Albert Walter Bunker's father, Albert, was his legatee.
On the 1911 census "Walter Albert Bunker", aged 15 [born 1895 at Iver in Buckinghamshire], had been living with his parents Albert & Ella at 7 Alma Street, Luton; the family had been living in Christchurch, Bedfordshire in 1901. Walter is named on the Luton War Memorial - see WMR ref 7563. His death was announced on 3/9/1915 in the Luton Times and Advertiser, which quoted the letter of condolence that his family had received from his Commanding Officer, who referred to Albert as holding the rank of "Saddler"; the press report made no mention of Peterborough.
The above-named casualty was clearly the man listed on the Peterborough Roll of Honour, which lists his correct rank and unit. However, he nor his parents/siblings appear to have any recorded link to Peterborough.
