Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the details. Harry and his brother Edwin, also commemorated here, were orphans raised by their Aunt and Uncle in Hebden Bridge. Harry was a Regular who joined aged 16 and served 5 years in India, Egypt and the Dardenelles, as well as France where he broke his arm and so spent 6 months back in England. He was killed by machine gun leading a night-time wiring party. Besides his brother, their cousin, also called Harry, was killed.
