He enrolled at Worcester College, Oxford in 1896 and the college archive states that: 'Ronald Hooper entered the College in 1896 with a mathematics scholarship, and achieved first class honours in mathematical moderations in 1898 and graduated with second class honours in mathematics in 1900. His service commenced on 21 December 1915. Lieutenant Ronald Hooper was killed in action near Lebucquière, France, on 21 March 1918.'
