He is assumed to be Joe H Schofield, who is commemorated on the main Southowram Memorial but whom Hornshaw and Fowler do not list on the St Anne's memorial. If this is correct, they provide his death and service details and say he was married, worked for a local confectioners and was a member of the firm's fire brigade before he enlisted in July 1916.
