Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He had moved to Merthyr Tydfil in 1911, hence the regiment, and was married: he had lived in Brighouse and worked for a pawnbroker in Bradford before doing so. He enlisted in August 1916 and this was the only Calderdale memorial he was found to have been named on. His brother Wilfred is also named here.
