Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, with a child, his father had been a Territorial Sergeant and he was working for a firm of glaziers in Brighouse before he moved to Leek to work for a firm of silk spinners. He enlisted in April 1915, survived being wounded whilst both serving in the Dardanelles and on the Somme, and this is the only Calderdale memorial that they worked on on which he was named.
