How would you describe the memorial and its ornamentation?
The theme of this large stained glass window is the 'Te Deum'. The centre lights represent the Incarnation, the Crucifixion and the descent of the Holy Spirit. The tracery shows the Angels, the Powers of the Heavens, the Sun, the Moon, the stars, the nativity and the visit of the shepherds. The left light of the middle tier shows the kneeling figure of St Stephen with St Andrew and Joan of Arc (the noble army of martyrs), and the right light of the middle tier shows St Aidan (kneeling) with St Patrick and St David. St Nicholas (patron saint of sailors), St George (patron saint of soldiers) and the arms of all the Allies-America, France, Russia, Italy, Serbia, Japan, Belgium, Romania, England and Scotland are elsewhere in the window.
The dedication is in the stone work below the window on either side of the altar rerodos.
