Memorial Details
What type of memorial is it?
How would you describe the memorial and its ornamentation?
Bowed stained glass window of three lights. At centre of central light is a cartouche depicting Britannia in gold helmet and red robe meeting a ghostly First World War soldier who is dressed with helmet and knapsack in grey. Illuminated dates of the First World War are in the top corners depicted within wreaths. The inscription is on the lower edge of the central light and below the cartouche, and includes a reference to a cartoon in "Punch' which inspired the window.
The window is mounted within a large glass-fronted case, with backlighting to illuminated it. A Museum exhibition card sits alongside.
